We are a small, but regular number of people who come together every Tuesday evening at St John’s at 6pm. Whoever is leading the time for meditation usually begins by sharing a devotional passage and then silence is kept for around 15 minutes when we wait in prayer upon the Lord.
Earlier this year we followed readings from Pilgrim’s Progress by John Bunyan, but now in a break from one of the old spiritual classics we are using extracts from John Maine’s book, “Word into Silence”.
The timing of the meditation allows anyone who wishes to stay on to worship at the Eucharist, at
6.30pm. Some of us do this, but others simply leave after the time of the meditation has ended.
We are always glad to see new people. You may find it helps you as a Christian and offers a still, centred time to give your life a greater spiritual depth.
Revd Steven Ballard.
