About The Worship Planning Group

Once a month a group of about 10 people meet to review our All-Age worship services and make plans for the forthcoming month. Our big hope is to create worship that is accessible to everyone, regardless of age, experience, or ability – and yet which is true to our liturgical tradition. Based on the traditional sharing of bread and wine, ours is a ‘small eucharistic community’ (Eucharist just means thanksgiving). Another group meets to plan alternative evening worship, under the banner of ‘creative worship’. These usually coincide with seasonal festivals like Holy Week, or Advent, and are intended as space for contemplative reflection and prayer, making use of ‘hands on’ participation. There is more about these services on a Facebook page –Creative Worship at St John’s. If you’d like to join our email list for reminders about upcoming All-Age and Creative Worship services, please email Janice Aiton (rector AT stjohnsdumfries DOT org).
